J-O-B

I'm graduating this semester from Swarthmore with an honors degree in biology and sociology/anthropology. After spending 14 soulsucking years at a private international school and then attending 4 years at a college where academics has led some students to commit suicide, I don't feel like being in school anymore. I've never really had a job before. I'm exploring some possible career opportunities although I admit that I haven't been looking very hard. I'm kind of not concerned about how much I make.

Bike Mechanic ($8.50/hr)
Yeah, I know that I suck at working on my bike but it's only because I haven't been trained. I think I'd actually enjoy this and it would save me alot $$$ because I would learn how to work on my bike better.

Research Technician (~$15/hr)
This is my ideal job because it's kind of what I do now. I set my own hours and it gives me time to play outdoors when I want to. It's interesting, and I discover shit. Plus, it's parent approved.

Laboratory Assistant (~$10/hr)
One of the lowly jobs in the lab world. You're basically a dishwasher but at least it looks ok on your resume.

Science Writer ($$ per article)
This is something I've done before. I thought it was fun and received some entertaining hate mail. It was stressful though because I always wanted to come up with something good to write about.

Bike Courier (~$5/hr)
Some people say I should do it, others say I shouldn't. If I wanted to be serious about racing, I would never get any rest. It's kind of like my courier friend Matt who works all day and then wants to come out to the points race but he can't because he's too tired. This would be so fun though because I like riding my bike all day.

Yoga Teacher (~$10/class)
I love practicing yoga, and would like to further my practice by attending a teacher workshop. But, I'm not good at teaching... anything, really.

Bike Tourer (-$800)
My friends are going across America for 3 months this summer. This would be a great way to see the country, and I probably won't have much of an opportunity to do this again. But I would like to race this summer.
