The Departed

I'll be in Boston this weekend. I haven't been there since going to get interviewed at MIT and Harvard back in summer of '03. My old teammate Margaret lives there and I might be able to see her if she gets back from hiking in time. I've always kind of been intrigued by Boston ever since watching Good Will Hunting when I was 11. It'll be great to get a change of scenery because I need a real break from my job. I wish people who do research could get paid enough. At the rate I'm going, I'm making significantly less than minimum wage. I know if I could get adequately compensated for the work that I do, I'd be much more satisfied with it. My labmate tells me that if I want to continue with research it's just going to be longer hours with minimal pay but very self-rewarding. It's sad to see her work so hard, and have her tell me that she's struggling. Going into pharmaceuticals seems like I'm selling out. I kinda want to keep my biking hobby though.
